On a last-minute opportunity, I set out on a solo adventure in the Sandwich Range of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. What started as a point-to-point route connecting some of the region’s classic 4,000-footers turned into a 20-mile loop with over 5,000 feet of climbing—and some big lessons along the way. I tagged North Tripyramid, Middle Tripyramid, South Tripyramid, Passaconaway, and even made it up West Sleeper via the Kate Sleeper Trail. I almost hit Whiteface, but missed the turn by a bit—classic. To close the loop, I ran a stretch of the Kancamagus Highway back to my car, making it a full send from ridge to road and back again. This wasn’t just a scenic hike. It was a serious training effort as I continue to prep for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB). I got to test out my new Zygos 6.0, quiver, additional gear, move through technical terrain, and just enjoy a beautiful (and humbling) day in the mountains. If you're into White Mountain routes, UTMB training, or type-2 fun on rocky trails—this one’s for you. Let’s run this one together.
