Pt 3 (Final) - Snorkeling Kona, a Hurricane & Pearl Harbor | Hawaii Cruise

The final part of our Hawai'i adventure, and Mother Nature had a few surprises in store! We started on the sunny side of the Big Island in Kailua-Kona with a snorkel cruise along the Kona Coast, then explored Kona town along Ali'i Drive. Next, Pride of America sailed to Nawiliwili Harbor on Kaua'i, the Garden Isle. With Hurricane Lala heading for the islands, Norwegian cut our Kaua'i overnight short. The ship left Nawiliwili the evening of August 13 and raced back to Honolulu a day early, arriving the morning of August 14, before the ports closed. Guests could stay aboard while the ship rode out the storm in deeper water, or get off early. We chose to disembark and spent our last days back in Waikiki. It turned out to be a blessing: we still made it to Pearl Harbor National Memorial and the USS Arizona Memorial for a moving visit, and caught one last Waikiki sunset before heading home. Mahalo, Hawai'i! Our original 7-day Pride of America itinerary: Honolulu, then Kahului, Maui (overnight), Hilo, Kona, Nawiliwili, Kaua'i (overnight), and back to Honolulu.
