Thora Valley Leaky Weir Design

David Maher outlines our design for the leaky weir structures we will build as part of our Ecosystem Restoration Series in the Thora Valley. The project aims to transform this creek bed into a self-replenishing wetland system. If successful, the creek will hold more water for a longer period of time, decreasing erosion and allowing an abundance of biodiversity flourish. The increased water retention will also make more water vapour available to the short water cycle which is key to cooling the climate and moderating destructive thermal energy.
