🚨Ghana’s ambitious Accra–Kumasi Expressway project has received a major financial boost, with Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announcing that all designated funds for the project will be ready by the close of the year.
With 170 kilometres already cleared for the new expressway, the project is being positioned as one of the biggest infrastructure undertakings in Ghana’s history and a major step toward improving connectivity between the country’s economic and commercial centres.
The Ghana Armed Forces have also received praise for their role in clearing the path for the project, with residents commending their speed, resilience and efficiency.
🚧 BIG PUSH ROAD PROJECTS
The Roads and Highways Minister, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has also inspected several ongoing road projects across the country.
📍 Northern Region – Tamale
Construction is progressing steadily on the 6-kilometre Sagnarigu–Kukuo–Kpene–Namandu–Kasalgu Road. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress and said improved infrastructure will contribute to Tamale’s growth and create opportunities for investment.
📍 Ashanti Region – Anwiankwanta–Antoakrom Road
The project has reached a major milestone, with the contractor beginning the asphalt-laying phase.
📍 Nationwide Roads Tour
As the Minister concludes his nationwide tour in Tamale, he says his work requires extensive engagement on the ground. Responding to whether he misses his office, he joked:
“If I had my way, I would bring my office along with me in a car.”
He also rejected suggestions that his frequent site inspections are an indictment of ministry officials and regional agencies, stressing the importance of field engagement in delivering road projects.
🇬🇭 From the Accra–Kumasi Expressway to road projects in Tamale and the Ashanti Region, Ghana’s Big Push infrastructure programme continues to attract attention as government focuses on roads, connectivity, investment and economic development.
