Amid worsening water scarcity in Telangana’s Palamuru region, the government has released water from the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme for drinking water needs. Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao switched on two massive pumps at the Narlapur pump house, releasing 6 TMC of water into the Narlapur reservoir. Each pump has a capacity of 145 MW, with the two operational pumps currently lifting around 0.5 TMC of water per day. The project is expected to support drinking water requirements in Palamuru and other districts.
