YYZ is one of Rush’s most famous and technically impressive instrumental masterpieces, originally released in 1981 on the legendary album Moving Pictures. After more than a decade away from the live stage, Rush brought this iconic instrumental back during the Fifty Something Tour 2026–2027, featuring the incredible drummer Anika Nilles behind the kit. The song has no lyrics, but it tells a unique story through rhythm and sound. The title "YYZ" comes from the IATA airport code for Toronto Pearson International Airport, the hometown of Rush in Canada. The inspiration came when Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart heard the YYZ Morse code signal while their plane was approaching Toronto, and that rhythmic pattern became the foundation of the song’s unforgettable opening. Musically, "YYZ" is a powerful exploration of technique, energy, and musical communication without words. It showcases the extraordinary musicianship of Rush — Neil Peart’s complex and precise rhythms, Geddy Lee’s legendary bass playing, and Alex Lifeson’s expressive guitar work. Although it is an instrumental composition, "YYZ" feels like a complete musical journey — representing movement, excitement, the feeling of returning home, and the identity of Rush as one of the greatest progressive rock bands to emerge from Toronto. This historic live performance celebrates the timeless legacy of Rush, featuring Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Anika Nilles as she brings her own powerful interpretation while honoring the legendary drum foundation created by Neil Peart. #Rush #YYZ #AnikaNilles #NeilPeart #GeddyLee #AlexLifeson #MovingPictures #FiftySomethingTour #RushLive #ProgressiveRock Enjoy the celebration of 50 years of Rush’s incredible legacy! ---------- video source: -popfliks -tapeheadtoo (June 7, 2026) ---------- I made some slight audio adjustments and edits
