Parents of Maikona Primary schoool, Marsabit County demonstrate against hijab in the school

The Maikona primary school parents on Monday protested an attempt by a Muslim lobby group from Nairobi to bring hijab to their children in the school. In their protest, the parents said wearing of hijab has not been part of the school uniform for 54 years now and are now suspecting the motive of the lobby group. They also say, the hijab being forced on their children also contradicts the cultures of the Gabra community which respects the Christian and Islamic religions.
