UNTP Information Meeting - 27 August 2026

The UNTP Information Meeting focused on how sustainability standards and certification schemes can adopt UNTP by publishing machine-readable conformity vocabularies and issuing digitally verifiable conformity credentials, using pilots based on the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) as an example. Participants discussed the benefits of digital credentials for reducing audit fatigue, improving verification and supporting digital product passports, as well as the importance of transparency around assurance models, including self-declarations, second-party assessments and accredited third-party certification. The meeting also covered global interoperability challenges, legal constraints on supply chain transparency, alignment with emerging international digital product passport standards, and an update on the UNTP 1.0 timeline, which has been delayed by approximately one month to allow additional time to address public review feedback.
