Intense rainfall in the upper catchment areas has triggered a landslide at Taptapani Ghat, along the Ganjam–Gajapati border, completely disrupting traffic on National Highway 326, which connects Ganjam with five districts. Large rocks have fallen onto the road, while torrential water continues to flow across it. JCB machines are being used to remove the boulders and clear the highway. Hundreds of vehicles remain stranded on the road. Our correspondent Biswajit Acharya reports from Taptapani Ghat on the current situation and ongoing clearance operations.
