Strategic School Leadership: Sarasota University leaders facilitate discussion around topics that school leaders grapple with in running their school "business" By bridging the gap between school-specific operational challenges and a targeted, purposeful curriculum, leaders can start strong even before they open their school doors to ensure that their school is running in ways that are both sustainable and cost-effective. Dr. Tabor and Dr. Pollock believe that by empowering school leaders to optimize business operations, strengthen institutional stability, and drive long-term strategic growth, they can help ensure that non-traditional schools not only survive - they thrive! Grounded in the principle "Prepared Leaders, Stronger Schools, Brighter Futures." This session takes a look at the areas that educators and administrators must address with actionable solutions to elevate their schools and ensure sustainable success. Dr. Bruce Tabor is a Montessori-inspired educational leader with more than 25 years of experience spanning K–12 and higher education, including roles as teacher, assistant principal, principal, Superintendent/CEO, and Vice President. He served nine years as Superintendent/CEO of a public Montessori charter school in Texas, leading the integration of Montessori methodology with state standards and accountability systems while sustaining a child-centered, community-based approach to learning. Dr. Tabor also brings 25 years of business leadership experience, applying organizational strategy, systems thinking, and team development to educational environments. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, a Master of Education in Elementary Education, a Master in Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Management. He is certified as an elementary teacher (Grades 1–8), principal (EC–12), and superintendent (EC–12). Lindsey Pollock, Ed.D. is the Provost of the College of Education at Sarasota University. Dr. Lindsey Pollock, LCSW-S, is a visionary educational executive, academic leader, and systemic advocate dedicated to cultivating purposeful, safe learning environments across Montessori and traditional educational spectrums. Currently serving as the Provost at Sarasota University, Dr. Pollock leads the innovation, development, and implementation of pioneering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs. Her career seamlessly integrates an advanced command of educational leadership with clinical social work, utilizing a strengths-based framework, trauma-informed strategies, and non-verbal acumen to optimize classroom and organizational effectiveness. A champion for institutional transformation, Dr. Pollock spent over a decade as the turnaround Principal of Garden Oaks Montessori (Houston ISD), where she successfully scaled enrollment by over 115% and managed millions in grant and bond funding to build a model, IMC-accredited, public Montessori program. Her commitment to centering the voices of marginalized communities is reflected in her work and in her many volunteer capacities, including her role as the Executive Director of the Lian Dante Foundation, where she drives community outreach, ABAR (Anti-Bias, Anti-Racist) initiatives, and comprehensive equity support for LGBTQIA+ individuals and families.
