Welcome to GenUnity's Member Stories Podcast, where GenUnity community members share and unpack their stories with us. GenUnity’s Program Manager and Host Whitney Sanchez is joined by community member Alyssa Benalfew-Ramos, a public policy and public health executive whose work connects policy, equity, community development, and systems change. As Associate Vice President of Resource Development & Impact at the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC), Alyssa leads teams focused on fundraising and communications, community organizing, and micro to small business services. She brings more than eight years of experience advancing equity, including leading statewide policy and advocacy efforts focused on economic equity and Black wealth-building as Chief of Policy at the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA). Her previous leadership roles at the Boston Public Health Commission spanned racial equity, violence prevention, trauma-informed practice, and the social determinants of health. Across her work in community development, public policy, and graduate-level teaching, Alyssa connects research, policy, practice, and community experience to advance more equitable systems.
