Abba Filipos was one of the great monastic fathers associated with Debre Bizen, a renowned monastery in present-day Eritrea. He became known for his deep spiritual life, ascetic struggle, leadership, and dedication to spreading the Christian faith. As an abbot, Abba Filipos did not seek holiness only for himself. Through his teaching, example, and spiritual guidance, he helped form many faithful monks and raised generations devoted to prayer and service to God. On Nehasse 5, the Church commemorates his blessed departure. May God, through the prayers and blessings of Abba Filipos of Debre Bizen, strengthen our faith and protect our monasteries.
