Polarization, Rainbows and Cheap Sunglasses

Prof. Lewin gave this talk for kids and their parents. He covered the concept of waves, polarization and did demonstrations at the Brewster angle to create 100% linearly polarized light. He also demonstrated that the light from rainbows is close to 100% linearly polarized and that the blue sky at 90 degr from the Sun is 100% linearly polarized. Everyone was given 2 linear polarizers which they could keep. This allowed them to check later outdoors what was demonstrated in the lecture hall.
