Today I'll be unboxing and reviewing the Hyperkin Trooper 2 joystick which is USB compatible. I bought this for $20 at MicroCenter last month. Games played in the video include: 1943 (PS3) Vanguard (PS3) Asteroids Deluxe (PC) Ms. Pacman: Quest (PC) Battlezone ROM for Atari 2600 (Ouya (Android)) In today's presentation I mentioned that this Hyperkin joystick works to play PS3 games, but not PS1 games in a PS3 console. When you put an original Playstation game in the disc drive, the PS3 boots into a Playstation 1 gaming mode which presets all connected controllers to have the directional control done by the d-pad of a Dual Shock 3 controller, and not the controller's left thumbstick. This is an issue with the Trooper 2 joystick because it has directionals that are exclusively set be seen by a system as left thumbstick directionals. Since the Trooper 2 has no PS Home button on it, you cannot switch over the Playstation directional setting to be recognized as left thumbstick directionals for Hyperkin's joystick. It's a bit unfortunate, but that's life. As always, Thanks to Emforay for the theme song to Wired-Up Retro. Check him out on Soundcloud:   / emforay   I also am grateful to DJ Kestutis for inclusion of his song, "Reborn" as the outro. (license http://goo.gl/ZSoZf)
