Who's afraid of the the big bad wolf? The Shadow of Fenrir is an original dark Nordic folk song inspired by Fenrir and Norse mythology, blending cinematic dark folk, haunting female vocals, tribal rhythms, ethereal atmosphere and dark fantasy storytelling. An epic revenge song about prophecy, judgement and breaking the chains placed upon you, it reimagines the legend of the great wolf through the world of Nathyrra's Vale - music for listeners who love Nordic folk, Celtic fantasy, Norse mythology, dark fantasy films, RPG worlds and deeply immersive cinematic original handmade music. They feared the wolf for what he might one day become, and bound him because of it. The Shadow of Fenrir takes that idea somewhere more human: what happens when you're judged for a crime you haven't committed? When other people's fear decides who you are before you've had the chance to decide for yourself? And what happens when, after being chained for long enough, you finally become the very thing they were afraid of? This is a song about breaking the chains. About revenge, prophecy, and the dangerous satisfaction of becoming the self-fulfilling prophecy they created. The accompanying film is one of the most ambitious visual pieces I've created for Nathyrra's Vale. Weeks were spent designing and refining its dark fantasy world, including creatures formed entirely from living shadow - culminating in a cinematic confrontation between Fenrir and a dragon made from darkness. I wanted to push the technology as far as I could and create imagery I'd never seen attempted this way before. This is a highly unique, special and ambitious project Every song in Nathyrra's Vale is an original journey into dark folk, Celtic and Nordic fantasy, atmospheric storytelling and worlds built to disappear into. Every song in Nathyrra's Vale is written from scratch and built as a place you can step inside. Contemporary, emotional. REAL songwriting wrapped in old magic. If you enjoy dark folk, Celtic folk, atmospheric fantasy music, cinematic storytelling and immersive worlds, welcome to the Vale. 🎧 Listen. Feel. Share. Subscribe. Shadow of Fenrir © 2026 Nathyrra Visual Direction and Storyboard: Nathyrra Song Lyrics They count the times I stumbled Not the miles I made Every inch I fought to hold on They’d take away They drove me past the last fire burning Then prayed the dark would swallow me whole Now I’m stuck in woods, With the wolves, And the dogs And the screams And I’m not Gonna lay here-let them pick-at-my-bones And I earned these scars In the dirt In the dark No man, no beast, No daylight goes Ohhh The night Don’t own me no more no Don’t own me Don’t know me Ohhh I am the shadow You forged these hands To bear your chains! You named the curse Before it came Now wear The shape Your fear Became Mmmmmm Now who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? Oh! They cried wolf, for too long Before I’d bared my teeth Every torch they held above me Lit the dark beneath They drove me past the last point of mercy… Then begged the dark to make me Small Ohh The night Don’t own me no more no Ohhh Don’t know me Ohh I am the shadow Ohh You forged these hands To bear your chains! You named the curse Before it came Now wear The shape Your fear Became Now who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? You can run You can hide But I will find you I’m under your bed I’m right behind you Run to the woods To my wolves To my dogs And the screams No I’m not gonna hear you when they pick at your bones Now own those scars In the dirt In the dark No man, no beast no daylight goes.. Ohhhhh! the night! Don’t own me no more! (Whose afraid, who’s afraid) Ohhhhh I am the shadow (Whose afraid whose afraid) Ohhhhhhhh Don’t own me no more!! (Whose afraid) Ohhhhhh I am the shadow! Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? Whose afraid of the big bad wolf? #NordicFolk #Fenrir #DarkFantasyMusic #vikingmusic #darkfolk
