It's 2007. Steve Jobs points at BlackBerry and Nokia on stage — and within a few product cycles, an entire category of "real" phones with physical keyboards is gone. Almost 20 years later, keyboard phones feel like a foreign concept. But the pull toward them hasn't disappeared — it just changed shape. In this video I go through why: the myth that physical keyboards are actually faster (they're not, and I'll show why), the attention economy and why we now pay extra for phones that do less, the science behind why the smell of a new phone box hits harder than it should, and why messaging apps quietly killed the one thing that made 2007-era texting simple. This isn't a "bring back the BlackBerry" video. It's an honest look at what we're actually nostalgic for — the object, or who we were when we used it. Special thanks to ‪@LeszczynskiEd‬ for feedback on technical aspects of this video. This is a re-upload with fixed audio levels. I've finally learned how to normalize the audio with a preset in DaVinci Resolve. Thank you Ed! Hope you guys enjoy the video!
