Mexico's Navy Has One Ship for Two Oceans

In 2017 Mexico ordered a single frigate — to be built at home, in five modules, two of them across the Atlantic. The plan on paper grew to eight ships. In 2026, the fleet register still lists exactly one. This is how the ARM Reformador — "the most technologically advanced vessel in Latin America", per Naval News — was built on budget and ahead of schedule, and why the fleet behind it never happened.
