Bobby Sykes Only The Hangman

Bobby Sykes worked for Marty Robbins for nearly a quarter of a century. No mean vocalist himself, he had releases issued on Columbia records as well as later recording under the name Bob Bishop for ABC records where he had a medium sized hit with 'Roses To Reno.' This song is of course, a re-write of Streets of Laredo and over here in the UK it was covered by a singer by the name of Houston Wells (hardly being his real name I doubt!) and his version was a minor hit. Oh, but being British we may not have been able to stomach the word 'Hangman' so the title was changed to 'Only The Heataches.' Can you believe that?!
