THIRD LEVEL – THE NIGHT YOU CALLED LOVE

THE NIGHT YOU CALLED LOVE carries a musical idea that has survived through three different eras. Its earliest element began in 1998 as a fast arpeggiated sequence written in FastTracker II. Years later, in 2006, that idea returned in a Futurewave track simply titled NIGHT — created during a period of forced change, separation, disappointment and the collapse of a life that had once felt secure. Even the “distorted guitar” in that version was not a guitar at all. It was a Reason Subtractor synthesizer, shaped into something that could carry the weight and aggression I heard inside the melody at the time. Two decades later, the same musical idea has reached another form. In this Third Level version, the rapid sequence finally became the heavy arpeggiated guitar figure it had always seemed to suggest. The original electronic composition was rebuilt as an emotional nu-metal track filled with guitars, anger, melody and everything that could no longer remain quiet. A FastTracker II pattern from 1998. A synthesizer pretending to be a guitar in 2006. A nu-metal song in 2026. The technology changed. The memory inside the melody did not. At its core, this song still carries the same moment: the night when love, trust and the future stopped meaning the same thing.
