the fascinatingly terrible design of american suburbs

Hi friends! So glad to be here w you :) I’m back home in Copenhagen after a dreamy Pacific Northwest summer visiting my family in the US. I had loads of fun but also being back where I grew up filled me with a fresh distaste for the North American suburb! And I want to talk about it! There are so many bigger & deeper issues with suburbia & American suburbs that I’m not even touching on in this video - I just want to focus on the peculiar spatial design that came to be the norm in suburbia. Particularly the car focused urban design combined with the artificial, performative architecture & interior design of a typical suburban house built in recent decades. It really all comes together to be something fascinatingly terrible Okay I hope this is interesting to you even if you’ve never stepped foot in a US suburb!
