Update video for friends, writing group, anyone and everyone watching. So much going on—too much to squeeze it into a facebook post. A lot of people have been helping me get through this year, I wanted to share the progress that's been made thanks to all the support and resources I've been fortunate to receive. In this video I check in about rebuilding my life from the ground up, moving from Washington to Oregon, building a care and support team, navigating healthcare as a full-time job, and starting to think about returning to work with cognitive accessibility supports in place. If you’re navigating neurological conditions, traumatic or acquired brain injury, neuromuscular conditions, or chronic illness, I hope this makes you feel less alone and gives you a few resources to look into. ⟡ Why I stopped approaching life from an able-bodied point of view ⟡ Healthcare management and care coordination as a full-time project management job ⟡ Differences in disability and brain injury support between Washington and Oregon ⟡ Oregon Brain Injury Program, Brain Rehab Network, and resource navigation ⟡ Integrative and naturopathic care at a teaching clinic ⟡ Paratransit services and housing support ⟡ Preparing for a return to work: cognitive accessibility and assistive technology ⟡ Organizations I’m reaching out to: Independent Living Resources and Northwest Access Fund ⟡ Wellness supports: acupuncture, spa and sauna access, adaptive movement therapy, peer support ⟡ Cozy life updates: new neighborhood, house cats, writing group, Torch writing event ⟡ What I’m reading and watching: Good Omens, Women Who Run With the Wolves, Joseph Campbell, Anne Carson’s Euripides, Witch Hat Atelier, and Nordic/Icelandic folklore Resources mentioned: ⟡ Oregon Brain Injury Program ⟡ Brain Rehab Network ⟡ Independent Living Resources (ILR) ⟡ Northwest Access Fund ⟡ Brain Injury Alliance of Washington (now BrainNorthwest, information sessions on YouTube) ⟡ National University of Natural Medicine (integrative care) ⟡ Paratransit services (check your local transit agency) 💬 Navigating something similar? Share what’s helped you in the comments. Your tips might help someone else. Thank you to everyone who has sent care, messages, and support this year. It has made all the difference. ❤️ US only (Instant) https://venmo.com/emalanibennett ❤️ US & International https://wise.com/pay/me/emmaaileenb ❤️ GoFundMe (3-5 business days) https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-em...
