King Tubby (Osbourne Ruddock, 1941–1989) was a pioneering Jamaican sound engineer and producer whose innovations defined dub music.
Working from his studio on Dromilly Avenue in Kingston, he transformed the mixing console into a creative instrument — using echo, reverb, and dropouts to reshape existing tracks into entirely new forms.
His experimental approach influenced reggae, hip-hop, electronic, and pop music worldwide.
King Tubby’s legacy endures as the foundation of modern remix culture and studio production.
I slipped in a Rod Taylor track called "His Imperial Majesty" produced by Mikey Dread plus dub version mixed by King Tubby.
