Why Bhagwant Mann wants to visit Pakistan : The Invitation Row | CFTV

The Chanakya Diaries | 2026 Monsoon Edition : https://link.amazon/B0aBajada Why Bhagwant Mann wants to visit Pakistan : The Invitation Row | CFTV Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has triggered a major political controversy after saying that he had received an invitation to attend the fourth International Punjabi Conference in Lahore from November 27 to 29. Mann said Pakistani Punjabi poet Baba Bashir Husain Najmi invited him, but questioned whether the BJP-led Centre would grant political and security clearance for the visit. He also took a swipe at the Centre, saying it had not permitted him to travel to countries such as France or Japan, so permission for Pakistan appeared unlikely. In this episode of Global Update, Prakhar Tiwari discusses the development following the controversy escalated after Pakistan’s Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and PSGPC chief Ramesh Singh Arora formally invited Mann and the entire Punjab Vidhan Sabha to visit Pakistan, including Kartarpur Sahib and other Sikh holy sites. Supporters see the invitation as a cultural and religious outreach, while critics argue that any Punjab CM’s Pakistan visit must be viewed through the lens of national security, India-Pakistan tensions, and Centre-state jurisdiction. Mann has suggested that, if clearances are granted, Punjab MLAs could travel together through the Kartarpur Corridor.
