Hundreds of Baleen Whales in a Feeding Frenzy

Near Greenland a congregation of hundeds of baleen whales, both humpback and fin, are in a feeding frenzy. Estimates of numbers were very difficult. Our trip leader's first guess was between 200 and 400, but it could have been much more. Most activity close to the boat was from humpbacks. This took place just north of the entrance to Scoresby Sund, near a location called Appalik (Raffles Island).
