Sustainable Neighborhoods Program

Thursday, September 10, 2026, the City of Louisville officially joined Sustainable Neighborhood Network as a participating city. Louisville's Sustainability Division staff provided an outline of Sustainable Neighborhood Network (SNN), structure of the program, and how residents or community members can get involved. Accompanying Louisville staff, Lakewood, CO staff and residents involved in the SNN program provided greater context of the program, how it has worked in other communities, and the overall benefits of being active members or community members. Overall, The City of Louisville’s Sustainable Neighborhoods Program gives residents the opportunity to become active partners in making the greater Louisville community a vibrant and sustainable community. Neighborhoods participating in this unique certification program organize workshops, projects, and events that enhance the livability of their neighborhood and reduce residents' ecological footprint. Participating neighborhoods earn program credits for their efforts and, depending on the number of credits earned in a given year, they may receive designation as a “Participating Sustainable Neighborhood” or an “Outstanding Sustainable Neighborhood” from the City.
