This Triumph Thunderbird 900 Was NOT Ready for Scotland…

https://buymeacoffee.com/thewurks The work on my Triumph Thunderbird 900 Scotland challenge bike continues — and this time I'm taking the bike to another level. After buying my lower-mileage Triumph Thunderbird 900 as a potential advantage over Freddie's 75,000-mile bike, it was time to get it properly prepared for the journey to the north coast of Scotland. I called on the help of a very dear friend, Neil, and together we stripped the Thunderbird down, cleaned it thoroughly and detailed it as carefully as possible. The goal wasn't to make this old Triumph look brand new — I wanted it to be as pristine as possible while preserving the years of patina, memories and stories that this bike has collected along the way. But on the journey to Neil's, the Thunderbird suddenly developed a severe misfire and dropped a cylinder. Not exactly what I needed with the Scotland challenge getting closer. While Neil continued working on the bike, I took the carburettors away for a complete overhaul. They went through a full clean and treatment in the ultrasonic cleaner before being rebuilt and ready to go back on the bike. Eventually, we got the Thunderbird back together and it was time for the big journey home — one final test before heading north to Scotland. And then… I broke down. The reason? I ran out of fuel. Yes. After all the cleaning, detailing, carburettor work and preparation, I managed to forget one of the most basic things you need for a motorcycle road trip. And Emily was absolutely delighted when she had to come to my rescue with an emergency supply of fuel… 😂 Now the bike is finally getting ready for the big Scotland challenge.
