Simca Evolution (1934 - 1980) Simca was a famous French car brand known for producing affordable, practical, and sometimes sporty cars. Its most recognizable models included the Simca 1000, a small rear-engine family car, and the Simca 1100, one of Europe's early successful front-wheel-drive hatchbacks. Simca was originally closely connected with Fiat, building Fiat-based cars in France. Over the years, it developed its own successful models and became one of France's major automakers. The company also became associated with Talbot-Lago and later came under the ownership of Chrysler, which used the Simca name for many of its European cars. The brand was eventually taken over by Peugeot, which replaced the Simca name with Talbot. Although Simca disappeared as a brand, many of its cars remain remembered for their simple engineering, distinctive styling, and importance in French automotive history.
