Jan Serr: Summer Paintings

Jan Serr: Summer Paintings From the Villa’s terrace overlooking Lake Michigan’s parklands and beaches, you see swimmers, sunbathers, joggers, bikers, families, and seagulls. Serr has used these subjects repeatedly in her career. The Villa Terrace Museum exhibition includes work from five decades, with some new in 2026. While her work is contemporary, it draws on a long history of figurative art, from the Renaissance to Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt, to David Hockney and Derrick Adams.
