The Power of Recitation a lecture by Musheer The power of recitation is not just in the words - it's in what repetition does to your mind, body and soul. Across every tradition, it's called something different - Tilawat, Japa, Dhikr, Mantra, Chanting - but the mechanism is the same. 1. Why it works scientifically Focuses the scattered mind: When you recite out loud, your brain can't wander. You are forcing attention to one point. That's meditation in action. Rewires your nervous system: Rhythmic recitation slows breathing, lowers heart rate, reduces cortisol. That's why you feel calm after 10 minutes of chanting. Memory and belief: What you repeat, you remember. What you remember, y Shabda Brahman - the universe itself is vibration. In Islam, the Quran says recitation brings sukoon to the heart - "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest" [13:28]. It cleans without effort: You don't have to understand every meaning at first. Just like water cleans a cloth even if the cloth doesn't understand water, continuous recitatio For power, follow 3 rules: Consistency over quantity: 10 minutes daily at Fajr or Brahma Muhurta is more powerful than 2 hours once a week. Tongue + Ear + Heart: Say it clearly, hear it yourself, and try to feel it. If only tongue moves, it's habit. If heart moves with it, it's transformation. Wudu / Pavitrata: Clean your space, your body, your intention before you start.
