Via Ferrata Tábor is a short and beginner-friendly via ferrata located in the Lužnice River valley near the town of Tábor in the South Bohemian Region, Czech Republic. Built in 2011, it is known as the first via ferrata constructed in the Czech Republic. The route climbs a rocky wall directly above the Lužnice River and offers a simple but enjoyable introduction to via ferrata climbing.
At approximately 30 metres of climbing length, Via Ferrata Tábor is a relatively short route, but its compact layout makes it well suited for beginners and for climbers looking for a quick training session. The route is divided into two main sections and combines natural rock climbing with numerous metal footholds and a fixed steel safety cable. The lower section begins with a steeper rocky wall, followed by a short easier section where climbers can pause and enjoy views of the surrounding Lužnice valley.
The second section features numerous metal rungs and a short traverse before continuing towards the top of the rock. Some parts feel more exposed than the technical difficulty suggests, but the route is well secured throughout. The ferrata is generally graded B, although some sources describe it as B/C because of the steeper climbing sections. It is considered suitable for beginners with basic experience and is also popular as a short training ferrata.
Unlike longer through-routes, Via Ferrata Tábor ends at the top of the rock and does not continue into another climbing section. After completing the route, climbers return down to the path using the nearby descent route and ladder. The short approach from the parking area makes the ferrata easy to access and suitable for a quick climbing stop.

Via Ferrata Tábor is a short but historically important Czech via ferrata that offers an easy introduction to climbing on a secured rock route. Its steep opening section, natural rock, metal rungs, and views into the Lužnice valley make it more interesting than its short length might suggest.
The ferrata is particularly well suited to beginners who want to experience via ferrata climbing without committing to a long or technically demanding route. More experienced climbers can complete it in just a few minutes, while beginners can use it as an opportunity to practise clipping, movement on steel cables, and climbing technique.
The surrounding Lužnice valley adds to the experience, with its deep wooded landscape, rocky cliffs, and river below. The ferrata is located close to the town of Tábor and can easily be combined with a walk along the Lužnice River or a visit to the historic town.
Via Ferrata Tábor can be visited as a standalone short climbing activity, but it is especially suitable as a training stop or as part of a longer day exploring Tábor and the Lužnice valley.
