Helping a buddy wrap his noggin around the 1/6 turn method of adjusting the valve lash on the KTM #RFS engine for #badbetty the #racebike. Pretty nice that you can do this in a parking lot with no special tools. The math of the M6 0.75mm fine thread screw adjustors means that by turning it 60deg (1/6), you've moved it to the necessary clearance. Matter of fact, as the feet on the adjusting screws wear in and start to dish out, the feeler gauges are actually LESS accurate since they give you a reading at the outer circumference of the foot, not the concave center which is pushing the valve open. Hardest part is figuring out which TDC you're at without opening it up, so you don't adjust at overlap. Put it in 6th and turn the rear wheel slowly. Should hear a bigger chuff and see both rockers move as you get the right one. Normally you can wiggle the rockers the tiniest bit side to side because they're fully unloaded at that point. If not...check your work on finding TDC! #sciencebitches #mathishardmkay #mechanic #makeoldbikesthrashagain
