Union Pacific Helps Amtrak Train With P42 Locomotive 164

Amtrak operates hundreds of different trains all across the United States on any given day. On occasion, locomotives develop problems while a train is en route. In some cases, the host freight railroad will supply a locomotive so that the train can complete its journey. In this video, we travel to the Great Basin region of Northern Nevada to follow the California Zephyr with specially painted Amtrak P42DC locomotive 164 and Union Pacific helpers as it travels west to California. We'll follow the train between Lovelock, NV and Truckee, CA.
