Does spending more money automatically mean you’re upgrading your EDC? I don’t think it does. In Episode 21 of EDC For Beginners, we’re talking about something I think the EDC community gets wrong all the time: the difference between buying something more expensive and buying something that’s actually better for you. A $300 knife isn’t automatically three times better than a $100 knife. A $400 backpack isn’t automatically four times better than a $100 backpack. And that $20 flashlight you’ve been carrying isn’t suddenly obsolete because somebody released a new $150 model. But that doesn’t mean premium gear isn’t worth buying either. There’s value in craftsmanship, materials, design, fit and finish, collectability, pride of ownership—and sometimes simply owning something because you freaking like it. In this episode, we’re talking about: ✔️ When an EDC upgrade actually makes sense ✔️ Why price doesn’t always equal improvement ✔️ Diminishing returns in EDC gear ✔️ Utility vs. appreciation ✔️ When premium gear IS worth the money ✔️ Why downsizing can actually be an upgrade ✔️ The difference between a WANT and a NEED ✔️ Why sometimes the best upgrade is buying absolutely nothing There’s nothing wrong with wanting new gear. But maybe we should stop calling everything an upgrade. 👇 QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What’s the most expensive piece of EDC gear you’ve purchased that was genuinely worth every penny? And what’s an expensive purchase that absolutely wasn’t worth the upgrade? I have a feeling this comment section is going to get interesting. 😂 For honest reviews, first impressions, comparisons, and hands-on videos covering knives, flashlights, bags, wallets, pens, and everything in between, check out my main channel ‪@mikeydailycarry‬ 👍 Like the video if you enjoyed the conversation and subscribe for more episodes of EDC For Beginners. #EDC #EverydayCarry #EDCForBeginners #EDCGear #PocketKnife #KnifeCommunity #EDCPodcast #everydaycarrygear
