The Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali is unlike any other boat race in Kerala. Held on the Uthrittathi day in the Malayalam month of Chingam, this spectacular celebration is deeply connected to the traditions of the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple and the legendary Thiruvonathoni—the ceremonial boat carrying offerings for the temple. These magnificent Palliyodams, specially associated with Aranmula, carry the spirit of an age-old tradition as rowers move in perfect rhythm to the stirring sounds of traditional boat songs.
