Strengthening 64-Year-Old Saraighat Bridge | North East Frontier Railway

Across the Brahmaputra, Saraighat Bridge connects more than two riverbanks. It connects communities, journeys, and the everyday life of a region. This Documentary follows the strengthening and rehabilitation of the Saraighat Rail-cum-Road Bridge by North East Frontier Railway. It traces the response to ageing, prolonged monsoon exposure, corrosion, and concrete deterioration—from investigation and planning to the repair work and final inspection. Go inside the major engineering processes: localised deck-slab repairs, cross-girder strengthening with steel angles and cover plates, replacement of expansion joints with strip-seal assemblies, and strengthening and sealing of construction joints. The film also documents concrete testing, surface preparation, bonding, placement and curing, followed by bituminous paving, mastic asphalt waterproofing, anti-skid finishing and protective painting. Behind each stage are the Railway engineers, site teams and construction agencies working through the details that make rehabilitation possible.
