Written by Larry Weiss, Bob Elgin (a.k.a. Stanley Kahan) and Eddie Snyder, the original demo was sung by Larry Weiss himself. Although the demo survived, the song was never released commercially on record during the 1960s. Many years later, that original Larry Weiss demo was brought to light by Teensville Records, after Larry personally provided the recording to Ash Wells. It appeared on the Teensville CD Unforgotten Yesterdays – The Songs of Larry Weiss & Lockie Edwards Jr, preserving a beautiful piece of early-60s pop songwriting that might otherwise have remained unheard by most collectors. Now, Thee Quiet Romantics have taken this hidden gem one step further — giving “I Don’t Know Myself Anymore” what may be its first full-fledged group recording. True students of the 1960s, Thee Quiet Romantics have a deep love for the songs history nearly forgot: the lost demos, the almost-singles, the publisher acetates, and the beautifully written pieces that somehow never made it onto a turntable.
