Installation has begun on a packaged treatment plant at Lombard, Mon Repos, the centrepiece of the Water and Sewerage Company's (WASCO) Patience Water Supply Redevelopment Project.
Once commissioned, the plant will produce 1,200 cubic metres of potable water daily for approximately 1,700 accounts across Mon Repos, St Marie, Lombard, La Haut, Wen Development, Mamiku, Praslin, La Pointe and Malgretoute.
The project, financed by the Government of Saint Lucia through the CARICOM Development Fund, replaces a distribution network built more than fifty years ago and sized for a fraction of today's demand.
WASCO estimates three weeks for assembly, followed by testing and commissioning, with full operation projected for the last quarter of 2026.
