Angels | An Ace Combat 7 Cinematic

With Ace Combat 8 upon us, I wanted to do something cool one last time in Ace Combat 7. This was a secret project I had been working on since February and I’m glad that it has finally come to fruition. I believe that my time making cinematics in Ace Combat 7 has run its course, and it’s something that I’ve found a lot of happiness and value in doing ever since I started in 2023. But looking back over the years—especially this one—and with dwindling audience retention pertaining to the recent Ace Combat 7 cinematics, it became clear that all things must eventually come to an end. But that doesn’t mean I can’t go all out one last time. Trust me, I really did. This is quite literally my longest cinematic yet. So why a cinematic on Ace Combat 6 instead of 7? As one among a million fans of the series, it’s never easy to pick my favorite game because I’ll always be switching back and forth between all of them. But Ace Combat 6 will always have a place in my heart in spite of its criticisms. The truth is that this game had drawn me closer into the Ace Combat world after 5, because it was also the first Ace Combat game that I had finished and left me wanting more. Even though I had 5, I never finished it due to a broken disk which left a huge gap temporally. Finally in 2011, Ace Combat 6 bridged that during what would be my 8th birthday. That may not seem like much on the surface, but it only felt right that I should respect that as it is the reason why I’m the fan I am today. Reflecting on that moment in my life served as the guiding force for this video. In any case, making a cinematic about Ace Combat 6 aligns pretty well with Ace Combat 8, given that the latter’s thematic foundation rests on liberation and resisting invasion—just as we saw in the former.
