Full Autumn Prep on the Mountain Homestead: Firewood, Cabbage & Winter Chores.

Welcome back to Highland village life! 🌿 Autumn on our mountain homestead means endless hard work as we prepare for the cold Ukrainian winter. Every single day brings new essential tasks to keep our home warm and our farm running. Today starts early in the morning with Grandmother preparing homegrown cabbage from our garden for the winter pantry. Meanwhile, field and yard chores never stop: cutting and hauling spruce branches for firewood, sharpening the circular saw and axe, gathering dry fallen leaves to keep the pig warm, and hauling heavy rocks from the garden to clear the soil and reinforce our stable grounds. We also organize our water pumping system, clean up the farmyard, and make sure our garlic bed is properly covered with leaves and evergreen branches to survive the upcoming frost. It is exhausting physical labor, but seeing the firewood stacked, the tools sharpened, and the homestead ready for winter makes every bit of effort worth it. Sit back, unwind, and immerse yourself in the calm, grounding rhythm of authentic village life in the Ukrainian Carpathians.
