Talk 2 of a 6-lecture series delivered by Swami Sarvapriyananda at the Sydney Spiritual Retreat (August 2026)
Verses 6-12 systematically analyse how perception works, from the gross to the subtle, to help the seeker discriminate between the real Seer and the seen objects.
Problems Belong to the Mind, Not to You
The key distinction is between the Witness consciousness and the reflected consciousness (the mind/ego). When you say "I am disturbed," that "I" refers to the mind, not the Witness. The Witness simply observes the disturbed mind without being disturbed itself. Emotions and problems arise and dissolve with the mind—they are absent in deep sleep, proving they belong to the mind, never to the Self.
