The temple was built by King Lingarajendra II in 1820 and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. One of its most interesting features is the combination of Kerala-style tiled roofing with Islamic/Gothic-inspired architectural elements. The temple also has a beautiful water tank with a small mantap in the centre.
