After doing the 'No Guns'-challenge in MGS Delta, I felt that I needed to do the same challenge in the original MGS3 as well and see how the experience is in this version. For the most part it was the same, but not having the indicator that lets you see where your throwables will go definitely made some parts more difficult. Another aspect was that I mostly used standard uniforms that didn't have the advantage of dampened footsteps so that also made some parts trickier. The challenges/rules of this playthrough are as follows: New Game, European Extreme difficulty, earn the FOXHOUND rank (the highest rank in the game) No Guns used, aside from the bike chase segment and 3 boss fights; Ocelot, The Pain & Shagohod. Ocelot would've actually been doable without using guns but I forgot about the fact that you can beat him lethally without it counting as a kill (I completed/recorded these 'No Guns'-runs in Delta and the Original back-to-back and it wasn't until having already reached the editing phase that I realized it). I didn't want to redo everything because of that so my solution was to add a 'No Guns'-completion of the Ocelot fight as a bonus clip to the end of the video. Normally the only permitted weaponry consists of Knockout Handkerchief, Cig Gas Spray, Grenades, TNT & Knife (and Throwable Food items for distracting enemies). And while yes the Cig Gas Spray is technically a gun, "No Guns" means ranged firearms that can take out enemies from afar. The Cig Gas Spray is pretty much the same as the Handker and CQC in terms of range and you can't hold up anyone with it either so I didn't restrict it No using the Scientist or Maintenance Worker disguises (using the Officer disguise briefly is mandatory to progress in the game) No special camos that you get by picking the "I like MGS3!"-option or alternatively by beating the game once (the special camos include DPM, Grenade, Desert Tiger etc. that give you different relatively small perks - not to be confused with Special Items that include the Stealth Camo, Infinity Face Paint & EZ Gun which void the FOXHOUND rank when used). The only camos with special effects/perks that I allowed myself to use were the ones dropped by the bosses since those are earned throughout the game and not available instantly from the start No Items used aside from the Croc Cap which is useful for exactly two areas (and the Revival Pill is mandatory for The Sorrow of course) No skipping the optional Ocelot Unit encounter in Tikhogornyj.
