Join us for a kayak fishing adventure on the Yadkin River in Wilkes County, North Carolina! We kayaked from Smoot Park in North Wilkesboro to Roaring River, catching plenty of fish and running into a few unexpected problems along the way Just 30 minutes into our float, Jackson lost his fishing rod after getting a little too excited over a big fish. About an hour later, we discovered a crack in my kayak, and it was taking on water… After switching kayaks with Jonathan, we continued fishing and making our way downriver. We underestimated just how long this stretch of the Yadkin River would take. Starting around 1PM, we ended up spending 7.5 hours on the water, paddling hard toward the end to finally reach our take out spot right around 8:30PM. Despite a lost fishing rod, a sinking kayak, and a much longer trip than expected, the fishing was great!
