The Beach Boys - Holland (Original Version)

This is the original track listing for Holland that was set for release in November 1972 but was rejected by Reprise/Warner Bros. because it had "no hits." In response Van Dyke Parks went back into the studio with Brian Wilson and together they wrote Sail On, Sailor. Because of the extra runtime given they had to cut We Got Love. I love Sail On, Sailor, but I love We Got Love a lot more and I think this track listing is superior to the released version. I still think Holland is solid 8/10 though (even if side 2 is kind of a drag at times, sorry Leaving This Town fans). Side 1: 1. Steamboat (Dennis Wilson, Jack Rieley) 0:00 2. California Saga: Big Sur (Mike Love) 4:36 3. California Saga: The Beaks of Eagles (Robinson Jeffers, Lynda Jardine, Alan Jardine) 7:31 4. California Saga: California (Alan Jardine) 11:21 5. We Got Love (Ricky Fataar, Blondie Chaplin, Mike Love) 14:45 Side 2: 1. The Trader (Carl Wilson, Jack Rieley) 20:40 2. Leaving This Town (Ricky Fataar, Carl Wilson, Blondie Chaplin, Mike Love) 25:48 3. Only With You (Dennis Wilson, Mike Love) 31:41 4. Funky Pretty (Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Jack Rieley) 34:43 Disclaimer: I do not own any of the music shown and this is not for monetization.
