One Hour Warning

“One Hour Warning” is about the frustration of being told about plans at the very last minute — and the feeling that comes with suddenly being expected to drop everything, mentally prepare, and just go along with it. It isn’t really about the plans themselves. Sometimes, if I had known earlier, I would’ve been completely fine with going. It’s about the warning. It’s about needing time to prepare yourself, only to have that time taken away. It’s about hearing, “We’re leaving soon,” and immediately feeling the pressure build because you weren’t given the chance to process it on your own terms. And then there’s the anger that comes when your reaction becomes the problem instead of anyone understanding why you reacted that way in the first place. I wrote this song while I was angry because I needed somewhere for that anger to go. One Hour Warning is that frustration turned into music — the clenched jaw, the racing thoughts, the internal screaming, and that one thought repeating louder than everything else: If you had just told me sooner, none of this would’ve been a problem. — Bella Noir
