Barapullah Flyover is Facing Massive Traffic Jam... Has Delhi's much-awaited Barapullah Phase-3 flyover turned out to be a solution to traffic problems, or has it just become a new hotspot for jams right after its opening? Traffic in Delhi is not just a problem, it has become a part of millions of people's daily lives. The journey from East Delhi to South Delhi was pretty much the same. Be it rushing to the office, reaching an important meeting, or hurrying back home... people had options, but no real relief. Whether it was the route from Akshardham to Sarai Kale Khan or taking the DND to get to South Delhi... during peak hours, both routes would be buried under traffic. And then, a new road of hope was ready... Barapullah Phase-3 On September 29, Delhi got the news that its wait was over. Barapullah Flyover that people had been waiting for almost a decade. This elevated corridor, about three and a half kilometers long, connects Mayur Vihar Phase-1 to Sarai Kale Khan and, further, links with the existing Barapullah network to create an almost 9-kilometer signal-free route. The plan was really excellent, and everyone hoped the Barapulla Flyover/Barapullah flyover would open and traffic would ease. But in the days right after the inauguration, the scene looked quite different. As soon as the flyover started, there was a jam about 3 kilometers long from Mayur Vihar Phase-1 to Sarai Kale Khan. The very road that was built to end traffic jams ended up with long lines of vehicles. A nearly 3-kilometer jam from Mayur Vihar Phase-1 to Sarai Kale Khan. And for many people, the journey didn’t take 15 minutes... it stretched up to 2 hours. Car wheels were crawling instead of rolling. Horns were honking. And people were thinking... was this really the flyover we had been waiting for ten years? Despite this initial problem, the Barapulla Phase-3 is considered one of Delhi's most important infrastructure projects. With the completion of this project, the long-pending road connectivity between East Delhi and South Delhi has finally been completed. The government hopes that in the coming days, this will significantly reduce traffic pressure around Sarai Kale Khan, DND, and Akshardham. Although the initial traffic jams have certainly frustrated people... experts believe that it takes time for any major infrastructure project to settle into normal traffic patterns. The Barapullah Phase-3 won't just benefit East Delhi. Millions of commuters coming from Noida and Ghaziabad now have a new route to reach South Delhi. It is expected that in the coming days, traffic pressure around DND, Akshardham, and Sarai Kale Khan will ease. Travel will be faster. Fuel will be saved. And people’s time will be spared too.
