Trident Football Pod - Omar Farrugia

In this edition of Trident Football Pod, we welcome Minister Omar Farrugia, a former Mqabba FC player who also represented Malta at Under-19 level. We speak to Omar about what football means to him, his connection with Mqabba FC and his first steps at the club’s nursery. We also discuss the important role played by his father, Joe, who has served in several positions, including Vice-President, since the nursery was established in 2005. Omar takes us back to his experience with the Malta national team and explains what it meant for a boy from Mqabba to wear the national team shirt. He also shares an interesting story about Valletta FC’s strong interest in signing him, which even led to him playing a friendly match with the club while he was still an Mqabba FC player. What happened, and why did the move never materialise? We also discuss Omar’s love for Liverpool FC. Later in the episode, we put his knowledge of the Reds to the test by showing him a series of photographs of Liverpool players, including some less familiar names. Omar impressed us with his knowledge, proving just how well he knows his favourite club! Watch the latest episode of Trident Football Pod!
