It was one of those very hot summer days. Almost eight weeks had passed without any real rain, and you could feel it everywhere. The grass was dry, the forest was quiet, and nature itself seemed tired. Usually, this place is filled with birdsong, but that day only a few birds were singing softly in the distance. But there was something changing in the air. Dark clouds were slowly gathering in the distance, and every now and then the wind would move through the trees. A thunderstorm was approaching — and after so many dry weeks, it was actually a beautiful thing to see. We were all hoping for the same thing: rain. There may have been fewer birds that day, but there were plenty of squirrels. :) To my left, they kept running through the trees and jumping from branch to branch. Every now and then they made enough noise to make me look over and see what they were doing. And somehow, in the middle of this dry and tired landscape, there was still so much life. Sometimes hope is like seeing dark clouds after weeks without rain. You know something is coming. You just have to wait.
