Details About This Vlog:-
The Sashisena Temple—also known as the Nimuhi Temple or Nimuchi Deula—is a unique, doorless heritage shrine located in Sonepur (Subarnapur), Odisha, about 1 kilometer from the main town.
Architectural and Physical Features
• No Entrance or Exit: The word Nimuhi means "without an entrance," and the shrine is famous for having no visible doorway, window, or opening.
• Size: It is a small, compact structure built on a rectangular platform, standing roughly 7 feet high.
• Location: It sits inside the premises of the Minor Irrigation Office, located near the Sonepur Court area.
• Reconstruction: While the legend dates back earlier in regional folklore, the current structure was rebuilt in the early 20th century (between 1902 and 1937 AD) by Maharaja Vira Mitrodaya Singhdeo (Biramitradaya Singhdeo) of Sonepur.
The Legend and Folklore
• The Love Story: The shrine is dedicated to the tragic and immortal love story of Princess Sashisena (daughter of the Amravati State ruler) and Ahimanikya (son of the Sonepur state minister/dewan), famously chronicled in the 17th-century Odia Sasisena Kavya written by poet Pratap Rai.
• The Witch Twist: In the folklore, a local tantric maiden or witch named Jynanadei Maluni (one of the seven tantric maidens of Sonepur) became charmed by Ahimanikya and used black magic to turn him into a lamb during the day. Through prayers to Goddess Bhagabati, Sashisena broke the spell.
• Symbolism of the Doorless Design: The absence of a doorway symbolizes an unbreakable, eternal love that cannot be divided, entered, or broken by outsiders
