On 9/8/2026, Beaver Valley nuclear conducted the last EPZ prior to system decommissioning effective 1/1/2027. I wanted to document an SRN, however the closest one was a good twenty minutes away. I was thinking of doing Vanport's 130, however I did not know if it was active (it is,) either way I'll get to record more 130s than Equinoxes (I hear the Equinoxes more for calls, but I'm not usually within eyesight. The 2001s being used by fire stations will likely stay in service, while the already abandoned ones and nuclear ones will be taken down over time. I did try to ask the plant to buy one, but I was ignored (mr. keske isreal man says "I would ignore you too twin(laughing emojis.)" I'm surprised the plant even saw my message. After this, an officer came out when I took all the equipment in the car, as most of the station was suspicious. Very nice one however, I didn't have to get the Calcutta experience.
This siren is going to be decommissioned as a nuclear siren effective 1/1/2027, while continued use as a fire siren for Beaver station 101. It was tested annually as a nuclear siren In September on either a Thursday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. It will test with the other fire sirens monthly on a Sunday at 6:00PM (multiple calls each Sunday around 6 will move it to the next week...?)
This siren replaced an ACA Allertor around late 2000s (nooooo beaver valey noooo...)
